What you need to secure a marriage license in British Columbia ... |
Officiates: Marriages are performed in British Columbia by Religious Representatives (Clergy) or Marriage Commissioners licensed by the Vital Statistics Agency. At the request of the issuer, you may be asked to produce the following documents pertaining to yourself and/or your future spouse: a birth certificate, Driver License or passport, and if previously married, the original or a notarized copy of the divorce certificate or annulment certificate you will need to know the full names (maiden name) and birthplaces of parents.

Eligibility: Anyone who is 19 years of age or older and meets with the requirements of the prohibited Degrees of Consanguinity (the blood relationships between relatives who are disallowed to marry) may obtain a license.
Other helpful facts .. Only one partner need apply for the license. You do not have to be a resident of British Columbia. There is no waiting period. No other tests are necessary. Same Sex Marriages allowed. There must be two witnesses over the age of 18. The marriage must take place within three months after the purchase of a license. In order for a marriage to be valid, the marriage license must be presented at the ceremony. In British Columbia couples can choose either a religious or civil ceremony. Either type of ceremony must be witnessed by two people.
